Hello – From Our New Employee!
Hello Inner Peace Reiki followers! My name is Quinn and I am the newest addition to the Inner Peace Reiki staff. I am so grateful and so excited to be a part of this community in more ways than one. I'm going to use this first post of mine to introduce myself, and tell you my Reiki story. My name is Quinn, and Reiki changed me. When I was younger I had a temper. A bad temper. My emotions came out all wrong. Sadness, frustration and stress all expressed themselves through snapping at my friends and family. I was not a very nice person while dealing with any emotions, I simply didn't understand where my feelings came from or how to communicate them.
At the very start of my Freshman year of high school, my father passed away. My dad was my best friend and my hero, so naturally, I was in emotional distress. Between starting high school and losing him my world was turned completely upside-down. I didn't know how to handle my emotions, so my sadness and grief turned into anger. I went though almost all of high school closed off from the world with a short fuse that could make me snap at any time.
My Senior year, I decided to follow my creative side and attend Rocky Mountain School of Photography. RMSP is owned by Neil Chaput de Saintonge. I met with Neil so he could critique some of my photographs. He asked me if I knew what Reiki was, and offered for me to take Reiki 1 from him. Taking that class was one of the best choices I have ever made. Everything about Reiki made so much sense to me. I started to understand where my feelings came from and how to be aware of what I was really feeling. I could communicate my emotions and discovered that 90% of the time I wasn't angry...I was stressed and I was grieving still. I cried for the first time in a long time, because I finally understood sadness. I rarely got angry. I became aware of other people's energy and could tell if they were off balance just by being near them. I realized how intuitive I could be. Reiki has helped me to allow myself to be happy, that is such a gift.
I am now 19 years old, a Reiki Master, and a Reiki teacher in training. I am starting to co-teach Reiki classes with Neil until I feel prepared enough to teach a class on my own. I love teaching Reiki, to me it is the best way to reach out into the community and create the same opportunity for others that Neil created for me. I am so thankful.
I will be posting on the blog every week! Stay tuned. Namastè.
